Personal Power

Personal Power is an internal source of confidence, passion and a strength of purpose. It’s the conviction to be true to ourselves and our values by the choices we make every day. Success in life is a result of consistency and discipline. Realize that to expand your personal power, self-development can never end. Those with personal power work on self-development all of the time and put these elements into practice.

Live life aligned with your values
Values run deep within us. Values make up who we are, what we want and how we live. They are those things that are most important to us, the decision-drivers that keep us clear with our purpose. Align your goals with you values and you will reduce stress and enhance and rejuvenate your life.

Trust and speak your truth
When I ask people to tell me what’s true about them, they often confess their dark side instead of their strengths and talents, their unique abilities that bring joy to their world and those around them. Have you ever noticed the ridiculous amount of time, money and energy that is wasted by not being your authentic self? Let go of past perceptions and others’ agendas for you. Speak your truth about the talents and gifts you bring to this world and see each day as a new playground of opportunity to grow and discover.

Eliminate self-defeating behaviors and manage your self-talk
Garrison Keillor wrote, “Sometimes you need to look reality in the eye, and deny it.” In other words, talk to yourself positively and constructively. When trouble occurs, stop and look for the gift in it. Remind yourself repeatedly of the gift until you’ve altered your attitude. It’s called attitude management.

Be driven by faith, not by fear
Ironically, one of the highest ways to instill personal power is to stop controlling everything. The truth is, you really have little control. Even the best plans in life often change because there is a higher guidance controlling the flow of what is to come. Those with a high degree of personal power will listen for that guidance and trust it to allow the perfect present to happen rather than resisting. The more we practice this kind of letting go, the easier it will be to transform our lives.

Practice gratitude
Powerful people are truly grateful for the lessons that life gives them. Divine assistance is always there for our regeneration. Be thankful for your lessons and all that is good and supports you in life. This will bring you closer to the creative forces of the universe, causing countless blessings to flow toward you.

Personal power will make you stand out from the crowd. Your interpersonal charisma will shine, leaving you memorable, interesting, genuine and trusted.
